If the housing is used frequently, every 2-3 years. Sporadically used every 3-5 years could be enough. The important point is not the mechanical wearing out of the o-rings or the soiling by salt but –most important –the age! O-rings contain chemicals to soften it. This chemicals escape over the time –especially under sunlight. The o-rings become harder and lose their sealing capacity.
How often do the O-rings have to be greased?
Keep the O-rings thin and lightly greased. Please remember that grease has no sealing function! It is only needed to keep the o-ring flexible. Too much grease may attract dirt or hairs which could cause a leak.
Which grease should I use?
SUBAL uses O-rings made from rubber only – in a special quality, which do not need a special grease.
We recommand you use the SUBAL grease provided but basically you can use any kind of acid-free silicon grease like GROHE Armaturenfett for example.
How shall I clean my housing after a dive trip?
After using the housing in salt water, we recommend immersing it in fresh water. Move all the levers and push all the buttons to expel any saltwater which may be trapped
